1. Who these terms are with
Hangwork is a portfolio site builder operated by William Stroud, an individual doing business as “Hangwork” (“Hangwork”, “we”, “us”). These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of the Hangwork editor, the sites it publishes, and everything at hangwork.art (the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
2. Who can use Hangwork
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, and able to enter a binding contract. If you use Hangwork on behalf of an organization, you confirm you’re authorized to accept these Terms for it.
3. Your account
You sign in with your email (we send a link) or with Google — there’s no password to manage. You’re responsible for keeping access to your email or Google account secure, and for everything done through your Hangwork account.
Give accurate information and keep it current. Tell us promptly at william.stroud100@gmail.com if you think someone has gained access to your account.
4. Plans, payment, cancellation, and refunds
Hangwork offers two paid plans. Lifetime access costs $99 once and does not renew. It includes every feature, including downloads of your published site and editable backup files. Monthly access costs $10 per month and renews automatically until canceled. It includes the editor, your yourname.hangwork.art address, publishing, custom domains, hosting, and future editor updates, but it does not include site or backup downloads.
Monthly access requires an active, paid subscription. If the subscription ends, is revoked, or remains unpaid after Polar’s payment-recovery process, your editor and publishing access ends and your published site is automatically taken offline. If paid access resumes or you buy lifetime access, a site paused only for billing is restored to its previous visibility. Canceling a monthly subscription stops future renewals; access continues through any period already paid unless Polar shows an immediate end date.
An account with active monthly access receives a one-time $10 discount when upgrading through Hangwork’s authenticated lifetime checkout. The credit is applied automatically, cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash, and cannot be combined with another discount if Polar does not permit the combination. When the lifetime payment succeeds, Hangwork immediately ends the account’s monthly subscription so it will not renew again.
Payments are processed by Polar as merchant of record. Polar handles checkout, card details, receipts, and any applicable sales tax or VAT. We don’t see or store your full card details.
If Hangwork isn’t for you, email william.stroud100@gmail.com within 14 days of your lifetime purchase or first monthly payment for a full refund, no questions asked. Monthly renewal payments are non-refundable after they are charged except where the law requires otherwise. A full refund ends the related access and may take the published site offline.
5. Your content and who owns it
Everything you upload or create — your images, text, videos, and site design (“Your Content”) — stays yours. We claim no ownership of it, we don’t watermark it, and we don’t use it to train any model.
To run the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, host, back up, reproduce, and publicly display Your Content only as needed to operate and improve the Service and to publish your site as you direct. This license ends when you delete the content or close your account, except for backups that age out on a normal cycle and anything we must keep to comply with law.
You are responsible for Your Content. By publishing it you confirm you own it or have the rights and permissions to use and share it, including any rights of people pictured, and that it doesn’t break these Terms or any law.
6. Acceptable use
Hangwork is for publishing your own creative portfolio. You agree not to use it to store, publish, or link to content, or to do anything, that:
- is illegal, or promotes or facilitates illegal activity;
- sexually exploits or endangers minors in any way. This is an absolute line. Such content is reported to the appropriate authorities and the account is terminated immediately;
- infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark, or other rights;
- is non-consensual intimate imagery, or pornographic or sexually explicit material;
- harasses, threatens, defames, or incites violence, or promotes hatred against people based on who they are;
- violates others’ privacy or shares their personal information without permission;
- contains malware, phishing, or attempts to gain unauthorized access to any system;
- is spam, or uses the Service mainly as a file host, backup drive, or content-delivery network for material unrelated to your portfolio;
- places an unreasonable load on our infrastructure. Fair-use limits apply: each file must be under 18 MB, a site holds roughly 1 GB in total, and sites drawing extraordinary, non-portfolio levels of traffic may be throttled.
If you’re unsure whether something is allowed, ask us first.
7. Selling work from your site
You can publish a product catalog whose purchase options open Payment Links in your own Stripe account. Prices shown on your site are display information; the price and terms in Stripe’s hosted checkout control the transaction. Those sales are between you and your buyer. You receive the money directly, and buyer and order information stays in your Stripe account. Hangwork is not a party to your sales, takes no cut, and does not provide a cart or order dashboard.
You are responsible for keeping product availability and Stripe Payment Links current. Marking an item “sold out” on your site does not disable its direct Stripe link. You are solely responsible for payment settings, quantities, fulfillment, shipping, receipts, refunds, taxes, payment limits, and every consumer-protection obligation that applies to your sales.
8. Enforcement, suspension, and termination
If content or conduct breaks these Terms, we may remove or disable the content, and suspend or terminate the account. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to fix it — but serious violations, legal risk, or anything involving the safety line above may mean immediate action without notice.
You can stop using Hangwork at any time. Lifetime customers can download their complete site and editable backup from the editor before they go. Monthly customers can upgrade to lifetime to enable downloads.
9. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement. If you believe content on a Hangwork site infringes your copyright, send a notice to abuse@hangwork.art that includes:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the work you say is infringed;
- the URL of the material you want removed, with enough detail to find it;
- your name, address, and contact details;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act for them.
We remove or disable properly notified content and, where appropriate, notify the person who posted it, who may submit a counter-notice. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
10. Reporting abuse
To report content or behavior that breaks these Terms — abuse, illegal material, security problems, or safety concerns — email abuse@hangwork.art. We review reports and act on them, and we treat child-safety and security reports as urgent.
11. Availability and “as is”
We work to keep the Service and published sites running, but we provide them “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet every need. Some places don’t allow these exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Downloads and our wind-down commitment
Your site is built as plain web files — the kind any host can serve. Lifetime access includes a download button that hands you the whole published site as a folder and a separate editable backup, with no export fee. Downloads are not included with monthly access.
If we ever wind Hangwork down, we commit to giving lifetime customers a reasonable opportunity to retrieve their complete site files before Hangwork-hosted sites go offline, so they can move to another host. Monthly customers may upgrade to lifetime while the Service is operating. No proprietary site format.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Hangwork and its operator won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service.
You are responsible for keeping your own copies of Your Content. Download tools are available with lifetime access.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify Hangwork and its operator against claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, your sales to your buyers, or your breach of these Terms.
15. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms. If we make a material change, we’ll update the “Last updated” date and, where reasonable, give notice. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in Virginia will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, unless mandatory local consumer law gives you other rights.
