1. Who is responsible for your data
Hangwork is operated by William Stroud (“Hangwork”, “we”, “us”), and we are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us about privacy at william.stroud100@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
Account information
Your email address, and — if you sign in with Google — your name and the basic profile information Google shares for sign-in. We don’t receive your Google password.
Your site content
The images, text, files, product catalog, display prices, and Stripe Payment Links you add, and the site you build. Published sites are public by design.
Payment information
Purchases are handled by Polar as merchant of record. Polar collects your payment details directly; we receive order and license information (such as your email, the product, and whether the purchase is valid) but not your full card number.
Technical and log data
Like any website, our infrastructure automatically records data such as IP address, browser type, and requests, used for security, abuse prevention, and keeping the Service running.
Support messages
If you email us, we keep the message and our reply so we can help you.
3. Sales through an artist’s Stripe account
A product button on a published portfolio sends the buyer to checkout hosted by Stripe for that artist. Stripe and the artist — not Hangwork — handle the checkout, buyer information, orders, receipts, tax settings, shipping, refunds, and fulfillment. Hangwork does not receive or store the artist’s buyer or order data and does not provide an order dashboard.
The public catalog, display prices, availability labels, and Payment Link URLs are part of the artist’s published site. Buyers should review Stripe’s and the artist’s own privacy information before purchasing.
4. How we use it
- to run the editor, publish and serve your site, and let you sign in from any device;
- to process your purchase and confirm your license through the merchant of record shown at checkout;
- to send you necessary emails — sign-in links, purchase confirmations, and important service notices — through our email provider;
- to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and comply with the law;
- to answer your support requests.
We do not sell your personal data, we don’t show third-party advertising, and we don’t use your work to train machine-learning models.
5. Legal bases (EEA/UK)
If you’re in the EEA or UK, we rely on: contract (to provide the Service you signed up and paid for), legitimate interests (to secure the Service and prevent abuse), consent (where we ask for it, such as optional emails), and legal obligation (to meet our legal duties).
6. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that help us run Hangwork, each handling data on our behalf:
- Cloudflare — hosting, storage of your site files and account data, DNS, and content-safety scanning of uploaded images.
- Polar — payment processing and automated license benefits as merchant of record.
- Resend — sending sign-in links and transactional email.
- Google — only if you choose “Continue with Google,” to authenticate you.
Stripe is not a Hangwork subprocessor for purchases from an artist’s catalog: the buyer leaves the portfolio for the artist’s own Stripe-hosted checkout, and Hangwork does not receive that transaction data.
We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect people’s safety, or as part of a business transfer. We don’t otherwise share your personal data.
7. Content you publish is public
When you publish, your site and its contents — including product names, images, descriptions, display prices, availability, and Payment Link URLs — are visible to anyone on the internet, and search engines may index them. Don’t put anything on a published page that you need to keep private. Draft products and pages you haven’t published stay hidden.
8. Cookies and sessions
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in and to operate the editor securely. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
9. How long we keep it
We keep your account and site data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account or ask us to delete your data, we remove it within a reasonable period, except for backups that age out on a normal cycle and anything we must keep for legal, security, or accounting reasons (for example, records of a purchase).
10. Your rights and choices
You can access and update your account details in the editor. Lifetime access includes complete site and editable-backup downloads; monthly access does not include product download tools. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to data portability. Residents of California and similar regimes have equivalent rights, and we don’t sell personal information.
To make a request, email william.stroud100@gmail.com. We’ll respond as the law requires. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
11. Security
We use reputable infrastructure and reasonable measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security — keeping your own copy of your site (the export button) is always the safest backup.
12. Children
Hangwork isn’t directed to children, and you must be 18 or the age of majority where you live to use it. We don’t knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, contact william.stroud100@gmail.com and we’ll delete it.
13. International transfers
Hangwork and our providers operate globally, including in the United States. Using the Service may involve transferring your data across borders. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. We’ll change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give reasonable notice.
